The invention of the solid body guitar really freed designers up. A guitar no longer had to look like a guitar. Nobody took more chances and came up with more inspired designs than what came out of Japan in the 1960s. With the space-race in full swing this Teisco model really captured that spirit with its sweeping lines that echo a space-ship and the metal pickguard which really makes you think you can fly this thing into orbit. All that said, this is a guitar so if it doesn't sound good then it's all for naught. Thankfully, this square-poled variety of pickup is one of the most expressive and full of life. The shortcoming of these guitars is the inconsistent fretwork and small wire so the best you can usually do on them is medium action but that's ok, they have quite a following among slide players for their singing tone.
