2014 Gibson R8 Les Paul - Custom Shop Historic Reissue

There's no better modern day Les Paul than these fine Reissue models. This 2014 R8 is a really excellent example of what Gibson's Custom Shop is capable of doing. All those minute vintage details are nailed solid -- from gorgeous one-piece mahogany bodies and necks, to the paint, all the way to the plastics and wiring. This one looks "real", with an awesome but deceptive top that lies in subtle beauty at some angles and really pops at other angles and light. We'd bet this was an "almost R9" top but something made Gibson put it in the R8 category. It's great. The neck is really an R9 profile as well- full enough but not overbearing at all - not the "baseball bat" that some R8's can be, with requisite low action that makes it an almost effortless playing experience. The tone is every bit as creamy as any you've heard on the neck pickup, and the bridge has that bark and bit of snap we love, but with all the heft and punch you'd ever want. It's sublime. The neck angle is perfect.

This beast is in really nice condition, with just a bit of normal playing wear that makes you know it's not new, but no significant dings. A little minor paint wear, faded hardware (which we love) and of course no cracks or breaks or signs of abuse. So...not minty fresh but by no means a beaten up relic either. Looks like a real guitar. :) You'll love it.
