Product Description

No other electric can hold a candle to Gibson's inspired Flying V. It might be the ultimate expression of what an electric can be and it's amazing to think it arrived on the scene so early. It did take a while for the rest of the world to catch up and for Gibson to really start building them in real numbers.

One of the most cherished versions is the so called "Medallian" from the early 70's with a special serialized number on the badge inset into the top. This one is as low as we've ever seen at #71. Like the early ones this one also has a impressed serial number on the back of the headstock.

As with a lot of guitars that stick around for close to 50 years it has been customized along the way. The first mod was to be routed for a third pickup and the guard was cut. It has since been filled in and a new guard put on the guitar. The finish on the back of the neck had been sanded to bare wood. It has been refinished in black but you can still make out the grain on the back of the neck and see where the block was put in between the pickups. This guitar can be seen in its 3-pickup incarnation on the Medallion V fan-site.

Both pickups are original "patent sticker" or "T-top" humbuckers, the wiring harness is new and professionally done. The truss cover and tuners are original.
