Product Description

The original. ARP made something really unique and special with the Odyssey. It was quite different from its peers at the time in looks and sound. It used a 2-pole (12db) lowpass filter similar to Oberheim's lowpass filter with its nasal, vocal quality. That isn't to say that it wasn't an ideal bass synth, it just didn't dominate a mix the way a Minimoog often would. The interface takes some time to truly understand also. Apart from having sliders instead of knobs, it was also duophonic, lacked the familiar pitch and mod wheels, and its oscillator tuning wasn't locked in to octaves, they were freely tunable. Every person I have seen sit down with one for the first time makes the same mistake also, they turn up the VCA gain...and then can't figure out how to get it to stop making sound! Once you learn its quirks, it really becomes a quick to tweak, easy read interface. If you ever wanted to own a vintage Odyssey, THIS is the one to grab!
