Product Description

For a lot of players (ourselves included!) it just doesn't get any better than a square shouldered dreadnought. This Epiphone Frontier is the epitome of what great dread should be. Gibson/Epiphone have made many different forms over the years and we love the maple back/25" scale combo of this era. It's warm like a dread but with a nice bottom and a snappy top and makes them record exceptionally well. All in all it is in great shape for its age. Good neck angle so it's very playable, still room to lower the saddle in the future. As with a lot of pieces that are 50 years old there has been some work done to keep it up to snuff. There is a repaired crack behind the bridge that has been inspected and is solid. The original pickguards on these were quite a unique shape and not to everyone's taste so at some point it was changed to this Hummingbird guard, possibly when the crack was repaired. The guitar has been partially refinished/over-sprayed when this work was done and the bridge looks to be a replacement as well. The neck is super comfy with a soft-v shape to it and a wide 1-11/16" nut. It's straight as can be and frets are in good shape for their age so no issues with playability. Tuners are original but they have been re-tipped with new tulip buttons. We love this one and it really responds wonderfully. The harder you play it, the better it sounds. +10 on style points for the great fingerboard inlays.
