Product Description

The early 80s saw the return of the Les Paul in its most classic form. This 30th Anniversary Goldtop is essentially what would be a 57RI or R7 today. One piece mahogany body, one piece mahogany neck, the smaller headstock returned, Kluson styled tuners, a very nice and pronounced belly carve on the top, and is everything a good LP should be. They even did the binding the old way in the cutaway. This is also before the started doing the fake aged inlays that never look quite right. Of course, the most beloved part of this era of Gibson's are the amazing "Tim Shaw" humbucker pickups. This marked the first time Gibson chased after the elusive PAF tone and boy did they ever succeed.

The guitar is quite clean for its age and there are no breaks, repairs, etc. The guitar plays great with low and easy action. The neck is straight and has a medium profile that most players will be right at home on. The neck measures 1-11/16" wide at the nut. There is some unusual grain in the cutaway, it is not a blem or paint issue. Medium weight at 9.9 lbs.

Comes with a nice Gibson "chainsaw" case.
