Product Description

Gibson's ES-335 was an instant classic, marrying their acoustic past with the newly "perfected" electric guitar. The solid center block let's you turn up you amp without instantly being greeted with feedback, but you still get some of that creamy fatness of tone that is the specialty of the hollowbody. This '74 is a beauty! It looks like it left the factory as a "2nd" but there are no issues we can find with it (factory 2nd's were due to cosmetic blems). They were fitting these with "tar-back" pickups which have a little more bite and output than the previous "patent sticker" pickups. The neck has the customary 60's type "slim taper" neck that Gibson implemented in the mid 60s. The factory black finish is cooler than cool. There are the light nicks, scratches and weather checking lines you'd expect to see on a piece of this vintage and nothing out of the ordinary. The frets have been leveled a time or two over the years so they are lower, but have years left in them. No big divots anywhere on the board, it plays cleanly without fretting out. 7.6 lbs so nice and light for a Gibson. It's a great piece that you bond with pretty quickly. Please let us know if you have any questions, we'll get back to you promptly.
